Why Do I Need A New Garage Door?

#1 Instant Curb Appeal

Your garage door is one of the biggest parts on the front of your home. Now imagine changing that door to one of the models shown below. It’s not hard to see how changing a worn and faded door to something modern and sleek, instantly boosts your home's visuals! A new garage door does more for your home’s appearance then almost any other single change!

#2 Better Weather Protection

Not only does a new garage door look good, it can help seal out mother nature as well! Modern garage doors have high R-Values and good water shedding properties. If you have a hard time keeping your garage heated or cooled, consider what you could save with a well insulated door.

#3 Safer Operation

Modern overhead doors are designed to run smoothly and safely. Modern torsion spring systems are much safer than the old extension springs. Some models also feature pinch resistant hardware for maximum safety. Additionally, modern openers are designed with children and pets in mind, for safer operation and peace of mind.

#4 More Reliability

Your garage probably gets used more than your house door, depending on where it is located. A new door is going to run smoother and quieter then your old one with less breakdowns. With proper maintenance a new garage door will last years into the future.

#5 Improves Home Resale Value

For their price, garage doors have one of the best returns on investment for your home. A 2019 Cost Versus Value Study showed that a garage door retains over 97% of the input cost. When someone rolls up to your home, first impressions go a long way; don’t let that impression be a bad one!

Purchasing a new door may seem overwhelming but don’t let that deter you. Browse through the pictures below or come to our office for a hands on demonstration.

How do I choose a garage door?

  1. Pick the style you like!

Go with the style of garage door that fits your taste. We will work with pricing and other needs once that decision is made.

  2. Decide on the insulation value.

In a non-insulated garage, a hollow door is fine. However, in a well insulated garage, a foam injected door is your smartest option.

  3. Choose the type of operation.

Will you want to manually push the door up and down, or is an electric opener more your style?

  4. Prepare the opening for installation.

The opening will need the proper woodwork done and the garage will need cleared for the best results during installation.

One of the best doors for the price the 600 is 1-3/8” foam injected, steel front and back with an R-Value of 13.75. It is one of our favorites and one you should consider.

The 600’s bigger brother, the 2000 Series is 2” thick foam injected, steel front and back with an R-Value of 17.66. If you want tough and well insulated, this is the door for you.

Just wanting a standard, no frills garage door? The 2400 series comes in either non - insulated or vinyl back configurations. It tops out at 7.5 R-Value insulated but is the most budget friendly door on the list.

Garage Door Insulation Choices

Vinyl Back and Hollow

R-Value: 0 -7.5

Hollow garage doors contain no insulation value and are good only for keeping out wind and moisture. These are our cheapest garage door option.

Stepping up a bit, we have a polystyrene filled panel that offers basic insulation and structural benefits. These panels are susceptible to damage from any type of small, pointed objects.

Foam Injected (Steel Back)

R-Value: 13.4 - 17.66

For long term reliability, strength and insulation, our steel back, foam injected doors are the way to go. The panels are filled with a polyurethane foam injection that gives excellent R-Value and structural benefits. For the price, these doors are some of the best value for your money.

Choose Your Electric Opener:

Modern operators are quiet, efficient and reliable. Most feature WiFi connectivity, optional battery backup, and are the perfect option for any new door.

Trolley Opener

Feature packed, reliable and cost effective, the standard trolley operator is a go-to for most situations.

Prepare the opening:

Before the garage door can be installed, there are several steps that must be taken to ensure the door will operate properly.

  1. Make sure the side boards extend from the floor to at least 18” above the opening.

  2. A board is needed across the top of the opening for the garage door to sit against.

  3. A board should be installed in the center to which the spring will be fastened. This center block should be from the top of the opening to even with the end boards.

  4. If you have any questions, please call us @ (302) 875-0663.
